I was awakened last night with the urging to write about how I interpret the spirit or essence that resides at Deep Bay Center. This is only my interpretation but I share it with you in hopes that it will support you and ground you as it does me and that it serves to express what at times, seems inexpressible.

The "essence" of Deep Bay Center is the peaceful feeling of "coming home to oneself." There is a strong welcoming spirit here that infuses everything. The land, lake, dwellings, natural community and the spirits embrace those who come to this sacred and powerful place. It is alive with vibrant, healing, natural energy. It exists to give and it is generous in its giving.

Those that find their way here discover an accepting environment that encourages authentic self-expression, individuality and harmony. Everyone is supported and respected at whatever point they are at in their personal journey. We are all teachers and students for each other and this setting supports a safe environment for an open exchange of wisdom, resources and healing, tools. Every moment of our day is a teachable moment.

When one comes "home to themselves" there is a joyous reunion that affects not only that individual but the universe on a whole. This joy has a healing, transmutive effect on us, the world around us and beyond.

If we go about our work and perform everything "with beauty and intention" , (joyful intention) we will find ourselves affected not only our own attitudes, but everyone who comes into contact with us by phone, letter or in person, will be touched by the "welcoming, joyful spirit" of the Center, and anything will be possible. Maintaining, nurturing and respecting the houses is of utmost importance. Cleanliness, beauty and uncluttered spaces are paramount to keep the healing, harmonic flow open. Respect and admiration for the land has been
requested. Take time to be with the land as you would a good friend. Let the wild slip beside you and walk companionably with it as you spend moments outdoors, sitting on mossy rock or wandering the trails to the lake. Let your spirit reach back with an embrace to the land. It exists to give, allow yourself to receive the joy it has to offer.

It is a great honor and privilege to be serving at Deep Bay Center and helping to promote and facilitate the generous and endless flow of amazing gifts that the Center and land has to give. They are gifts of natural beauty, connection, peace, harmony, new insights, reflection, solitude, awareness, compassion and much, much more.

And it fills my soul with joy to find myself in community with you and I thank you for the expression and sharing of your wonderful selves!
